With a strategy in place and the campaign wheels rolling, Avery is ready to jump on the legislative fast track, full steam ahead. Easy isn't even in the top thousand words to describe Kane Dalton's life after his father, a devout southern Baptist minister, kicks him out of the family home for questioning his sexual orientation. Despite all the rotten tomatoes life throws his way, Kane makes something of himself. Between owning a thriving upscale Italian restaurant in the heart of downtown Minneapolis and managing his long-term boyfriend, his plate is full. He struggles to get past the teachings of his childhood to fully accept his sexuality and rid himself of the doubts brought on by his religious upbringing. The last thing he needs is the yummy, sophisticated, blond-haired distraction sitting at table thirty-four.

About the Author:

Best Selling Author Kindle Alexander is an innovative writer, and a genre-crosser who writes classic fantasy, romance, suspense, and erotica in both the male/male and male/female genres. It's always a surprise to see what's coming next!

I live in the suburbs of Dallas where it's true, the only thing bigger than an over active imagination, may be women's hair!

Usually, I try for funny. Humor is a major part of my life - I love to laugh, and it seems to be the thing I do in most situations - regardless of the situation, but jokes are a tricky deal... I don't want to offend anyone and jokes tend to offend. So instead I'm going to tell you about Kindle.

I tragically lost my sixteen year old daughter to a drunk driver. She had just been at home, it was early in the night and I heard the accident happen. I'll never forget that moment. The sirens were immediate and something inside me just knew. I left my house, drove straight to the accident on nothing more than instinct. I got to be there when my little girl died - weirdly, I consider that a true gift from above. She didn't have to be alone.

That time in my life was terrible. It's everything you think it would be times about a billion. I love that kid. I loved being her mother and I loved watching her grow into this incredibly beautiful person, both inside and out. She was such a gift to me. To have it all ripped away so suddenly broke me.

Her name was Kindle. Honest to goodness - it was her name and she died a few weeks before Amazon released their brand new Kindle ereader. She had no idea it was coming out and she would have finally gotten her name on something! Try finding a ruler with the name Kindle on it.. It never happened.

Through the course of that crippling event I was lucky enough to begin to write with a dear friend in the fan fiction world of Facebook. She got me through those dark days with her unwavering support and friendship. There wasn't a time she wasn't there for me. Sometimes together and sometimes by myself, we built a world where Kindle lives and stands for peace, love and harmony. It's its own kind of support group. I know without question I wouldn't be here today without her.

 Guest Review by Michelle Tikal:

Kindle Alexander certainly knows how to write a romance. Whether you are a fan of m/m romances or not, it’s hard not to be drawn in to Always. Kindle Alexander knows just the way to weave a beautiful love story that is idyllic, passionate, and moving. If you are a fan of eloquent declarations of love, soulmates, and happily ever after this is definitely the book for you.

I was a bit taken aback by the way that the story started. We are introduced to Kane and Avery in the present day under difficult circumstances and then transported to the past to watch their relationship unfold. It almost seemed like I was reading the end before I even began and I had a feeling there would be few surprises along the way because of this. I also am not a fan of instant love. I definitely believe in chemistry and a connection that has the potential to blossom into endless all-consuming love, but I also believe in getting to know one another and falling in love little by little. I soon realized and came to appreciate that with the whirlwind nature of Kane and Avery’s relationship the beginning was absolutely necessary and really helped to reinforce the deep love and devotion between the two.

I am also usually into the romances that are more current which is why I love contemporary romances so much. I think this personal preference is mainly because I like to live within the story and I don’t really have a strong frame of reference for things that occurred before I was even born. Most of this story takes place in the 70’s but I found that it translated well to any time and that often there wasn’t much of a focus on the time frame. Usually the only reminders that the story was taking place 40 years ago was when mention was made to the technology of the time or lack thereof as it were, which I found novel and amusing.

I really loved following the characters through the majority of their lives. Kane and Avery’s story was a truly beautiful love story. I wholeheartedly believed in their love and commitment. I relished their emotional and touching moments and agonized over the painful. At the same time, I also felt that it was a bit oversimplified, over romanticized, and at times a bit too sugary sweet. This story seemed like more of a fairytale than anything. There just wasn’t much drama, conflict, or even strain on the relationship with the exception of the heartbreaking reality of the present day and events that happened long before the story even began. I found this difficult to swallow considering Kane and Avery were two unapologetic openly gay men in the public eye who I believe would still have had many issues and obstacles to overcome in today’s society, not to mention in the past before some of the progress I hope that we have made since.

Although I would have liked a bit more realism, Always was exceptionally touching and emotional. Centering on a love transcendent of time and everlasting, a love that assures and supports the concept of soulmates and kindred spirits; one that is powerful and inspirational.

About Michelle Tikal:

I am a stay at home mother of three small children under the age of 5. I met my wonderful husband in high school and we have been together for 15 years now. I have a bachelor's degree in Accounting of all things, but have found there's a very good probability of never actually putting that degree to use as I'm much more inclined to all things literary. (Not to mention I sort of hated the profession) My biggest pet peeve is simple grammatical errors. I am a huge animal lover and worked as an Animal Control Officer for 3 years before my oldest came along. I love to read and whenever I have free time (is there such a thing?) I can always be found with my reader in hand. I love contemporary and New Adult romance, the more angst the better! I'm a sucker for a happy ending, there is nothing better than a book that can make me ugly cry, and I simply cannot pass up a hot rocker read. My ultimate book boyfriend is a bad boy rock star with plenty of tattoos and piercings but I would be more than willing to forgo multiple tats and the piercings for Kellan Kyle.

  1. I really liked this review before you brought my age into it. See? I was alive during all those references and it was ugly you kept pointing out how young you are to my clearly old lady status!!! I'm kidding. Sort of. I'm glad you liked the story. Kane and Avery became incredibly important to me while writing this story. Thank you thank you for the review and playing along on the tour!
