Rare and Precious Things (The Blackstone Affair #4) by Raine Miller: Blog Tour Review

The fourth part in the New York Times bestselling series, The Blackstone Affair: A bright beginning for two damaged souls fighting for their hard-won love, and the promise of a new hope to secure their happily ever after.

Fresh from an idyllic honeymoon along the Italian coast, the Blackstones prepare for the birth of their precious baby and the challenges of settling into a new home. But things get complicated when specters from the past reappear to threaten the very foundation of their relationship. Ethan and Brynne will have to fight harder than ever for each other. Rare and Precious Things is the story of two people who both need the other in order to be complete, but learn just how "rare" their brand of love is when they have to risk everything in order to hold onto it.

About the Author:

Raine Miller has been reading romance novels since she picked up that first Barbara Cartland book at the tender age of thirteen. And it's a safe bet she'll never stop, because now she writes them too! Granted Raine's stories are edgy enough to turn Ms. Cartland in her grave, but to her way of thinking, a hot, sexy hero never goes out of fashion. A part-time teacher and writer of sexy romance stories every other chance she gets pretty much fills her days. She has a handsome prince of a husband, and two brilliant sons to pull her back into the real world if the writing takes her too far away. Her sons know she likes to write stories, but gratefully have never asked to read any, thank God! Raine loves to hear from readers and to chat about the characters in her books.

Review by Yvette:

Raine Miller is one of my top five favorite authors, first because she willed the character of Ethan Blackstone into existence, and second because she writes consistently amazing and scorchingly hot books. Her latest release, Rare and Precious Things, is the fourth installment of The Blackstone Affair series, picking up with newlyweds, Ethan and Brynne Blackstone, who are starting their lives as a married couple with a baby on the way. Rare and Precious Things marks the start of the next chapter in Ethan and Brynne’s life together, bringing them closer than they’ve ever been before. Like Eyes Wide Open, Rare and Precious Things is written in dual perspectives, which is particularly helpful considering the significant mental and physical challenges Ethan and Brynne face both as individuals and as a couple.

The name Ethan Blackstone is synonymous with the term "book boyfriend", being the fictional hero all other fictional heroes aspire to be. Ethan Blackstone is dominant and possessive, passionate and caring - character traits that make for an irresistible combination. His appearance and personality are so distinctly memorable that they easily take over the pages of the book and make it easy for the narrative come to life. Like the three previous books in the series, Rare and Precious Things reminded me of all the things I loved about Ethan Blackstone, even as it delved further into his character's emotional progression by unveiling more of his mysterious past. Ethan bares his soul in this book, showing just how much his character has progressed since his introduction.

Every intimate encounter is more intense, more sensual and more erotic because of the connection between Ethan and Brynne. They are so thoroughly consumed by one other that their need and desire is reflected in their every move. Rare and Precious Things is everything I've been waiting for and then some, succeeding in recapturing the magic and passion of its predecessors. Most importantly, the last (maybe, maybe not) book in The Blackstone Affair series finally confronted the ghosts of both Ethan and Brynne's pasts in their effort to build a future together, and provided long-awaited resolution for loyal fans of the couple.
