Night After Night (Seductive Nights #1) by Lauren Blakely: Blog Tour w/ Guest Post, Two Reviews & Giveaway

**Warning: Spare panties are're welcome.***

"You are being rewarded for turning me on. But we're doing it my way. You teased the hell out of me, and now I want to watch you squirm. Crawl up on my bed and get on your hands and knees."

Their world was sex, love, and lies.
He intoxicated her. Commanded. Consumed.
With a dirty mind and a mouth to match, Clay Nichols is everything Julia never knew she wanted and exactly what she cannot have. He walked into her life one night and unlocked pleasure in her that she never knew was possible. Possessing her body, captivating her every thought. Which makes him way too dangerous for Julia Bell to risk her heart, given that she has a price tag on her head. She ran after one mind-blowing week with him, but now he's back, and determined to make her his own.
No matter the cost.
She was a sexy drug to him. Fiery, unforgettable, and never enough, Julia is an enigma, and Clay isn't willing to let her go without a fight. But she's got dark secrets of her own that threaten to destroy any chance of happiness. She's a wanted woman - the stakes are high, her every move is watched, and yet the lure between them can't be denied. Can two people burned by love trust again when desire and passion are met by danger at every turn?

A sensual, emotionally-charged erotic romance that is now a New York Times and USA Today Bestselling novel!

Please note: This book is intended for 18+ due to dirty talk, light bondage, and lots of sexy scenes. This ebook edition also includes the prequel novella First Night, which precedes Night After Night. The sequel, After This Night, releases May 12 and can be pre-ordered now.

Guest Post: Clay and Julia

What compelled you to write this series and take a risk on a new genre?

While Night After Night is my first erotic romance, I wrote it, quite simply, because readers asked for it. Way back when in December, I released a free sexy short story starring Julia and Clay. In the weeks that followed, I received a number of Facebook messages, emails and goodreads posts asking for more! I’d had a fantastic time writing the short story since Clay and Julia are an immensely fun and sexy couple, so I figured ‘why the heck not!’ Then, that ‘why the heck not’ morphed into a novella and two full-length novels!

These two characters just took hold of me, and I loved every minute of writing them - from their sexy times to their tender moments to their conversations. But beyond that, the story wouldn’t let go of me. Once I knew the challenges they would face, I was completely drawn into their world, and their pasts, and the dangers that faced them. I suppose I have The Sopranos’, with its executive card games, and White Men Can’t Jump to thank as my inspirations for the storyline. When I watched White Men Can’t Jump over Christmas, I immediately knew I wanted to find a way to write a “hustling” story, and so Julia became my card shark who’s chased by a debt.

As I was writing, their sex scenes were filled with a new level of heat from my previous books. Clay has such a dirty mouth, and Julia embodies sexy confidence, so there was no way the series would be anything but erotic romance. Their romance begins, after all, with a steamy one-night stand involving handcuffs and bondage!

Which brings me back to your question - why did I take a risk on a new genre? Quite honestly, because the characters demanded it, and the readers wanted more of Clay and Julia.

Review by Yvette:

Lauren Blakely has always been an amazing storyteller, creating characters sure to be remembered for their distinctive personalities, which are so thoroughly developed that you feel as if these characters actually exist. I've always enjoyed getting lost in Lauren Blakely's fictional universe, especially because she continues to grow as an author with each new narrative. With the prequel novella that begins the Seductive Night’s series, First Night, the author teased and tantalized readers with a quick and intimate introduction to protagonists, Clay and Julia - an introduction that is further extended in the follow-up novel, Night After Night. With Night After Night, Lauren Blakely provides a no-holds-barred, chemistry-laden, relentlessly sensual romance that will keep you captivated from start to finish.

While First Night merely scratched the surface of Clay and Julia's characters, the development of each of their backstories in Night After Night sheds light on their not-so-pristine pasts and reveals that there's more to Clay and Julia than their adventurous and abundant sexual appetites. Their physical connection is one aspect of their relationship that only improves with every steamy encounter, but opening up to each other emotionally requires a bit more effort, especially in Julia’s case. It's not often that a story catches me completely by surprise, but I would never have guessed at the direction that Night After Night would follow after Clay and Julia's passionate and carefree first meeting. Much like Lauren Blakely's No Regrets series, Night After Night steers away from more traditional contemporary romance stories, adding a bit of danger and suspense to the mix.

What I love about the pairing of Clay and Julia – and every other couple created by Lauren Blakely for that matter – is their compatibility both in and out of the bedroom. They are two similar characters with Type A personalities, but instead of clashing, they effortlessly meld together in a dance of giving and taking. As a male lead, Clay is refreshing for his candidness. Unlike most romance novels which find the heroine attempting to dissect their mysterious and/or elusive love interests, Night After Night turns the tables and keeps Clay on his toes as he navigates a burgeoning relationship with a more secretive lover. This dichotomy is fascinating because I often found myself wondering how the outcomes of various encounters would differ if the roles were reversed, particularly in regards to the book’s climactic cliffhanger, which left me impatient to know what happens next in Clay and Julia’s story.

Review by Michelle:

It didn’t take long for me to become a die-hard fan of Lauren Blakely. She is the master of creating stories that combine scorchingly hot, incredibly intense, and undeniably stimulating love scenes with an in-depth, mysterious, and suspenseful storyline. She definitely knows her way around the bedroom but she also illustrates exactly why, although it maybe the steam that draws you in, it’s the plot that keeps you coming back for more.

Clay Nichols. This man needs his mouth washed out a time or ten. It is absolutely filthy and FANTASTIC. He is one dirty, sexy, kinky mofo. What’s more he is not just a hot, sensual, dominant man, he is passionate in all that he does, vulnerable at times, able to relinquish control when necessary, and incredibly sweet and affectionate. Julia Bell. This girl can definitely hold her own. She has one hell of a smart mouth on her, she is strong, confident, knows what she wants and is not afraid to ask for it. Together these two are an inferno behind closed doors and even better, they are each other’s equal in every way.

First Night acquaints us with an intense and electric chemistry that simply cannot be ignored while Night After Night provides the meat and potatoes of the story and fleshes out the characters. In it we see the humanity behind Clay and Julia; their backgrounds, their issues, and what really makes them tick. Despite their compatibility their love story is surprisingly not exactly an easy one, it is one laced with blackmail, secrets, and deceit with pitfalls around every turn.

Julia, despite being a self-proclaimed no strings attached kind of girl, takes a chance and opens herself up to Clay on an emotional level which takes an immense amount of honesty and trust. It was refreshing to read about a woman who does not set out to find a relationship but when a truly great one presents itself, even at an inopportune time, she is not so misguided as to turn it away or continually lie or deny the inevitable feelings and relationship that appears meant to be. Instead she embraces the man and the feelings he evokes and goes all in.

As per usual, Lauren has a few surprises in store for us along with all that dirty, dirty, dirty, naughty, dirty fun. Night After Night fosters the ideal sensual and stimulating setting for a perfectly intriguing and engrossing story with an ending so shocking and gripping it really is almost too much to ask for us to wait patiently to see where Clay and Julia’s story takes us.
