Seven years ago, my life changed forever. One accident and the person I saw in the mirror no longer resembled the woman I used to be. I was lost and confused inside my own body. I felt alone and disconnected from the world, carrying the incredible weight of guilt and loss that wasn't even mine to harbor.
Then fate led me to Leo James. He taught me that crazy could be perfectly normal and it shouldn't hurt to breathe. Don't get me wrong. Leo isn't perfect. He has his own cross to bear, and the truth is, that might be why I fell for him in the first place. But despite everything he does for me, learning to forgive myself is infinitely harder than overlooking the flaws of another.
Now, the secrets and lies of our past have begun to dictate our future—threatening to ruin us before we get the chance to try. Perhaps we were cursed from the start. Or maybe, just maybe, the remnants of our fractured lives will fit together to form one whole, where love isn’t questioned and being happy is…well, easy.
Can a second broken soul be enough to fill the voids of my own? Or will such scarred pasts prove too much for our love alone to overcome?

Review by Michelle:
I am a huge fan of Aly Martinez. The Wrecked and Ruined series is one of my favorites and I loved Among the Echoes so I am not sure if I have ever been so anxious to read a book as I was for Broken Course. Of course one of the main characters just so happens to be one that I had found myself resenting and despising for the first two books of the series so I figured Aly Martinez definitely had her work cut out for her, but I am always up for a challenge, especially one that has the prospect of transforming a loathsome character into a loveable one.
I may have not been much of a fan of Sarah up until this point but, fan or no, the prologue absolutely rips your heart open while Sarah's recollections and explanations could change your entire perspective of her. I had detested Sarah for so long that it was easy to forget just how much I actually loved her wit, her charm, her sense of humor, and her spunk when we first met her in the beginning of Changing Course. I remember sitting down to read that first story that started it all and being so in love with Brett and Sarah and their playful and fun relationship that I found it hard to accept Jessie at first. Broken Course will remind you of all the good things, all the endearing things that make up Sarah Erickson and elucidate all the ugly and/or contemptible transgressions that quickly and easily became a slippery slope from dismay and dislike to downright loathing. It is guaranteed to make you rethink your stance on Sarah at least the tiniest bit if not entirely.
What an intriguing and irresistible couple Sarah and Leo turn out to be. You may have loved Leo in Among the Echoes, but you haven't seen anything until you experience his persistence, his forwardness, his dominance, and his alpha attitude in Broken Course. It is an entirely different side of Leo on top of his loving, caring, self-sacrificing nature that we already know and it makes him the perfect sparring partner and match for Sarah.
As agonizing as it was, I really appreciated the glimpses into Sarah and Brett's past that did so much to shed light on Sarah's attitude towards the end of their relationship, her actions, and her mental state at the time. It was hard to empathize with Sarah in the other books because of the way that she was lashing out and the nature of her injury especially seen through the adoring, pleading, mournful eyes of her husband. Sarah's side certainly doesn't excuse her actions, but makes her feelings real as well and illuminates the torment that she was experiencing at the time.
Of course in typical Aly Martinez fashion, just when you start to get comfortable and can see a possible happily ever after in the near future, a bomb is dropped making you question everything you have come to know and how the characters will be able to weather this storm. I love a good surprise and Aly Martinez has not yet failed to deliver. This time around the twist is something that could in no way be predicted or anticipated. It was revealed at exactly the right time and kept you on your toes with these two until the very end.
Broken Course can be read as a standalone, but you would be doing yourself a great disservice if you went into this story without becoming familiar with Sarah's story and having the inconceivable experience of a complete 180 in opinion of this woman or not giving yourself the opportunity to grow to love and admire Leo from Among the Echoes before delving into their shared story. Take the time to get to know these characters and their turbulent and emotional backstories before experiencing their perspectives. You will not be sorry.
