I was born a fighter. Abandoned by my parents, I spent my life forging my own path—one guided by my fists and paved with pain.
Untouchable in the ring, I destroyed everyone who faced me, but that’s where my victories ended. Outside the ropes, I repeatedly failed the few people who loved me. Including my best friend, Liv James—the one person I’d die to protect.
Even though I didn’t deserve her, Liv never stopped believing in me. Never gave up. Never let go. After all, she understood what I’d lost, because she’d lost it too.
Liv was everything to me, but she was never truly mine.
That was going to change.
I lost my first love, but I refused to lose my soulmate.
Now, I’m on the ropes during the toughest battles of my life.
Fighting to be the man she deserves.
Fighting the solitude of our pasts. Fighting for her.

Review by Michelle:
Every. Single. Day. Every. Single. Book. Every. Single. Chapter. Every. Single. Word. Aly Martinez never ceases to amaze me with her stories, her characters, her expressive and powerful prose, and all of the feelings every single one of her words evoke Every. Single. Time.
If you've followed the On The Ropes series then you know, just as well as I do, that Q and Liv were meant for one another. So, of course, when I found out Fighting Solitude would be the story of these two best friends finally finding their way toward each other romantically, I was over the moon and beyond excited to finally really get to know Liv. Mere pages in, Q meets the deceptively innocent ball buster and we get a chance to see the real Liv. From that very moment I was instantly enchanted and enamored and could not be more certain that this was the girl for Quarry. Once Mia shows up on the scene, my love and respect for Liv only skyrocketed. Not only does Liv put Quarry and his new relationship before any residual feelings she has for him, but she actually gave Mia a real shot and in the process became great friends with her. It takes an amazing and selfless person to put someone else's happiness before their own hopes and desires and it just goes to show that Liv is so much more than the feisty firecracker she appears to be.
This unlikely friendship also says a whole lot about Mia. I was completely heartbroken with the introduction of Mia in Fighting Shadows and it was even more difficult to see her relationship with Q unfold. However, Aly Martinez's characters are always so instantly captivating and she has such a way with the tough and sassy females that Mia was immediately loveable. She was so lively and so kooky that you just couldn't help but like her and you certainly couldn't hold anything against her or Q. No matter how much it hurt my heart to think of Mia with Quarry instead of Liv, there was just nothing she could do to make me dislike her. After reluctantly finding a place in my heart for Mia, Aly Martinez amusingly and beautifully reaffirms Mia's place and her purpose in Liv and Q's lives as she shows that despite her Lunacy and her Quirks, Mia is a gracious and loving person who truly wanted her friends to be happy.
As for Quarry Page, I have loved him ever since we were introduced to the precocious trouble making six year old in need of a mother worth a damn and a bit of guidance in Fighting Silence. Of course Quarry is just as shocking, just as crude, just as provocative, and just as hilarious as always, but now he's all grown up. He's lived through heartbreak and grief, he is vulnerable and considerate, and confident and oh so sexy. I never imagined the Q I always knew and loved to be so desirable and I would be lying if at times it didn't seem a little pervy since I basically watched him grow up within the pages of his brother's stories but wow, that little boy sure did grow into one heck of a mouthwatering man! Pervy or otherwise, what woman in her right mind could resist?
Individually Liv and Quarry are engaging and enchanting, but these two together are pure perfection and could very well be my favorite couple ever. They are so much fun together, they don't take anything from one another, they are the source of unwavering love and support for each other from day one, and once they turn from friends to lovers, they are off the charts H-O-T together. I cannot get enough of these two and would happily read twelve or so more books filled with this couple's insanely witty banter, intense connection, and undying love.
So packed full of feels, there were too many times than I care to count when I found myself laughing out loud before the steady stream of tears that had been flowing down my cheeks just moments before had even dried. Aly Martinez is a master when it comes to manipulating your emotions and making you feel the story, but she is also a master of balance. A master of making you break down and bawl your eyes out one minute and making your cheeks hurt from the gigantic grin on your face or your stomach hurt from raucous laughter the next.
On top of a wonderfully complicated love story full of obstacles and complications there is, of course, a thrilling twist. The thing is, you never get a cookie cutter, standard romance with this author. Aly Martinez always delivers a full, well rounded love story that makes you laugh and cry and swoon and sigh and then, just when you are getting comfortable, when you find yourself with a sweet smile or a silly grin on your face because you can't possibly contain your happiness for the amazing couple, BOOM, there is a shocking twist. You will never walk away from an Aly Martinez book without a full, enriching experience, one that goes above and beyond the incredible romance to electrify and excite you as well.
With absolutely everything you could ever ask for in a story, Fighting Solitude truly is the perfect conclusion to the Page brothers' saga. Now, I can only hope there is some long lost Page out there somewhere that we just don't know about yet because I'm not sure I can handle officially saying goodbye to these boys and these incredible books.
