Exiled (Madame X #3) by Jasinda Wilder: ARC Review

New York Times bestselling author Jasinda Wilder presents the conclusion to Madame X’s erotic saga of discovery.

My name is Madame X.

My heart is torn in two.

And now I have to choose...

Caleb is everything to her: lover, caretaker, the man who gave her life meaning when she had none. But as she seeks the truth about herself and her past, she discovers that unravelling Caleb’s web of lies might very well be impossible.

Logan is everything she never knew she wanted: freedom, joy, and a passion she couldn’t anticipate. But is Logan’s love enough to save her from herself, from Caleb, and from the tumultuous truth of her past?

Caught between two equally compelling and seductive men, X must make the ultimate choice. But there’s more at stake than just her heart...

Review by Michelle:

It's the book we've been waiting for. Who is Jakob Kasperek? What has happened to Logan? Will Isabel remember her past? With whom will she spend her future? As a huge fan of both Jasinda Wilder and the entire Madame X series I had high hopes for the final installment, Exiled, and even higher expectations. Of course, this is one author you can always depend on to deliver.

Isabel's life is rapidly changing as she comes to terms with Logan's shooting, she slowly begins to regain bits and pieces of her memory, and gets the surprise of a lifetime, one that promises to change absolutely everything that she knows and will have you clinging to the edge of your seat in anxiety and anticipation. As we experience all the exhilaration and promise of a new beginning with Isabel, the shadow of numerous secrets constantly looms and the threat of the unknown, of questions and lies and manipulation must be faced before she can come to terms with the truth, before she can make the biggest choice of her life, and before she can move forward.

After everything we have seen and experienced over the last two books in the series, could it really be possible to feel for Caleb? Once Caleb finally begins to open up, to let Isabel in on the secrets that he keeps, and to show some emotion and some vulnerability, it gets harder and harder to see him in the same light that I did while reading Exposed. Caleb doesn't have answers for all of our questions and not all of the answers that he does give are the ones we want or are even particularly desirable, but a new light is shed on this enigmatic man that paints a whole different picture than the monster I was convinced he was in the past.

The most intense, tangled, twisted, convoluted triangle I've ever encountered. One man holds the key to Isabel's past while the other may just be the key to her future. One casts an irresistible spell over her body, while the other enchants her heart. One man is dark and pensive and even vulnerable, the other embodies light and laughter and freedom. These two will have you just as thoroughly mixed up as Isabel as you may just find yourself as shockingly drawn to the most unlikely of men and just as on the fence about making a final decision, breaking ties, and leaving one man behind forever.

Smartly and intricately pieced together, angst ridden and anxiety inducing, decadent and extremely satisfying, Exiled is the perfect ending to a wild and tempestuous series. Full of twists and turns and nowhere near the way I saw this series ending, just when you think Jasinda Wilder has nothing left up her sleeve, you will be delightfully shocked and pleasantly surprised and if you are anything like me, you will love every minute of it.
