Review by Michelle:

A bittersweet ending to the Bleeding Stars series and the perfect story for the enigmatic Zee Kennedy, Stand just goes to show, it's always the quiet ones with the biggest secrets. While we have always known Zachary Kennedy as the quiet, reserved Zee who has, over the course of five previous books, always stayed out of trouble, laid low, and kept his nose, and every other part of himself, clean, I don't think anyone could have ever imagined the doozy this little drummer boy has been hiding for years. Touching, passionate, emotive, and intense, Stand is wondrously poetic, perfectly stirring, and completely addicting.

A.L. Jackson always knows how to ensnare you with one short sentence, or even just a few words and Stand is no exception. I was instantly drawn in to the plight of both Zee and Alexis upon their first meeting just pages in and wanted, no needed, more as quickly as possible. More than simple family troubles, tragedy, and near disaster, these two have more in common than meets the eye and the potential to completely flip each other's whole world upside down and it is mesmerizing to watch.

"No fear. Just life." This freeing, uplifting, inspiring motto in this story gives you nothing but the warm and fuzzies while delivering a distinctly empowering message. Reminding us all to not let fear or doubt rule you, to remember all the little things that should be embraced in life instead of hidden from, and all that you could very well be missing out on if you never truly live, both for those closest to you, and most importantly, for yourself.

A.L. Jackson always paints a picture so vivid and draws out emotions so viscerally, you not only feel a part of the story, but also changed by it in some way. After Lyrik's emotional rollercoaster in Where Lightning Strikes I never thought another Sunder member could so thoroughly capture my attention and bring out as many emotions, but Zee rushed in with his heartbreaking, self sacrificing, tear jerking story and thoroughly captured my heart. Pair that with Alexis' selfless and unconditional love in a difficult and unwinnable situation and there is just no way to top the noble generosity of these two and keep them out of your heart and mind. Not to mention, Alexis and Zee together are a moving example of the way a strong and beautiful relationship can grow and change you for the better. The perfect model of two individuals who encourage, build up, and motivate each other so that they can finally see and acknowledge their strengths, their capabilities, their true worth, and all that they deserve after dedicating so much of their time, effort, and life to their loved ones.

While I can't say I would probably ever be ready to let the Sunder boys go, as far as conclusions go, Stand will satisfy you like no other. A better story for Zee you could not imagine, and a more beautifully written and fulfilling conclusion to a much loved series would be extremely hard to find. Disappointing to be leaving the band Sunder behind? Absolutely. Disappointed in the ending to a long, emotional journey? Never.
