The Prophecy (Titan #4) by Jennifer L. Armentrout: ARC Review

History is on repeat…

Seth never thought he’d have a future. But now he’s on the brink of having it all with Josie: A tomorrow. A family. A forever. And all that's standing between him and that forever is the Titans. If he helps Josie entomb them -- without killing them, a nearly impossible task for him -- everything he could ever want will be in reach. But he soon realizes that as a god, every little choice he makes can reshape the world for the better… or worse. And in meddling with the Titans, Seth may have just set into motion catastrophic consequences that will force the Olympians to enter the mortal realm and reshape the delicate balance of power that keeps the world from total collapse.

A price must be paid…

Entombing the Titans is Josie’s top priority. After all, it was what she was born to do. But the plans her father put into play to help her are no longer an option, and the odds she and Seth face in forging their own path are grim. The escalating violence between halfs and pures only increases the danger closing in on them and their friends. Josie knows their chances of succeeding in their task are slim at best -- and if they fail, they might lose everything. But she also knows she's not fighting just for herself -- she's fighting for the man she loves, for their future, for the world. Together with the Army of Awesome, Josie and Seth will face the unthinkable. And to win this war, the ultimate sacrifice must be made.

For the end is here and the Prophecy will be fulfilled….

“...to win this war, the ultimate sacrifice must be made. For the end is here and the Prophecy will be fulfilled.”

Did anyone else read these lines in the blurb and get the chills? Because holy foreshadowing! That doesn’t exactly spell sunshine and rainbows for Seth and Josie, and it sure seems like things are going to get worse before they get better. With The Prophecy, Jennifer L. Armentrout brings the Titan Series to an end, though not before giving readers one last roller coaster of a ride packed with action, romance, and a storyline that’ll have your pulse pounding and keep you riveted from start to finish.

Since we last saw Seth and Josie in The Struggle, the world as they know it is essentially going to you know where in a handbasket. Not only are they reeling with the recent knowledge that Josie is pregnant, but Seth is quickly discovering that his act of vengeance against the Titans has severe and dire consequences. Josie and Seth are tasked with entombing the remaining Titans and saving everyone from more death, destruction, and chaos, all while dealing with absentee gods and feuding halves and pures. Did I mention the Titans don’t want to be entombed and are causing all sorts of problems? Each chapter brings new twists, turns, and obstacles for Seth and Josie to face and there’s certainly never a dull moment.

With the addition of several new faces and a handful of familiar characters in tow, The Prophecy follows Seth, Josie, and company as they attempt to save the world from being overtaken by the Titans. The storyline is action-packed, gasp-inducing, and unpredictable. With everything spinning out of control in the outside world, I appreciated the moments that focus solely on the romance between Seth and Josie. When they’re together, the book has a lighter, sweeter, more playful tone, which is a welcome respite from the heavy, ominous cloud that hovers over the rest of the narrative.

With The Prophecy, the fourth book in The Titan Series, Jennifer L. Armentrout has delivered a nonstop thrill ride. This book is intense. It’s jaw-dropping. It’s steamy (like woah). It’s foreboding, but also hopeful. It’ll have you gasping and shouting at your Kindle. It’ll tug on your heartstrings and wreak havoc with your emotions. It’s completely and utterly un-put-downable. The beginning, the ending, and everything in between is amazingly complex and awe-inspiring. I honestly couldn’t have asked for a better finale for Seth and Josie’s story, which is one I think fans of the Titan Series will be thoroughly satisfied with.
