Disturbing His Peace (The Academy #3) by Tessa Bailey: ARC Review

She’s got probable cause to make her move . . .

Danika Silva can’t stand Lt. Greer Burns. Her roommate’s older brother may be sexy as hell, but he’s also a cold, unfeeling robot. She just wants to graduate and forget about her scowling superior. But when a dangerous mistake lands Danika on probation—under Greer’s watch—she’s forced to interact with the big, hulking jerk. Call him daily to check in? Done. Ride shotgun in his cruiser every night? Done. Try not to climb into his giant, muscular lap and kiss him? Umm…

Greer doesn’t let anything—or anyone—distract him from the job. Except lately, all he can think about is Danika. He’s wanted the beautiful, cocky recruit since the moment he saw her. But she’s reckless and unpredictable, and Greer is painfully aware of what can happen when an officer doesn’t follow the rules. Probation seemed like a good idea, but now Danika’s scent is in his car and he’s replayed her voicemails twenty times. Christ, he’s a goner.

Danika’s melting Greer’s stone-cold exterior one ride-along at a time. Being together could have serious consequences… but breaking a few rules never hurt anybody, right?

About the Author:

Thank you for your interest in my books! I'm Tessa and I live in the crazy, loud, overcrowded borough of Brooklyn, New York. I love it here. This city is a constant source of inspiration, which is why I've decided to set my most recent books in the Line of Duty Series here.

I moved to New York when I was eighteen, the day after I graduated high school. Threw my suitcase in the back of a Chevrolet Cavalier and drove across the country to find my adventure. I'm still finding it, little by little.

Thank you for being a part of it.

Yvette's Review:

The combination of gruff, growly Alpha male, a no-nonsense, badass heroine, and the enemies-to-lovers trope already sounds like a promising book, doesn’t it? When that book is written by Tessa Bailey a.k.a. one of my FAVORITE authors? It instantly moves to the top of my TBR list! I’m a huge fan of the author’s Academy Series and I have been DYING to read Disturbing His Peace, mostly because the author hinted at an attraction developing between Greer and Danika in previous books in the series. I may or may not have squealed when this hint became an actuality because holy sexual tension! I’m blushing just thinking about these two characters! But I’m getting ahead of myself…

Part enemies-to-lovers and part opposites attract romance, Disturbing His Peace follows Lieutenant Greer Burns and Academy trainee, Danika Silva just as the tension that’s been simmering between them comes to a boil. Anyone who’s witnessed the intimidatingly tough Lieutenant interact with the forthright, fearless officer-in-training wouldn’t suspect their relationship to be anything but professional. Under the surface, however, there are roiling emotions and pent-up, uncontrollable desires that are threatening to be unleashed. When an incident finds Danika in need of Greer’s help, the professional barrier that previously existed between them is brought down by flirtatious banter, lingering stares, and pure, unadulterated lust.

It’s because of, not despite, their differences that make Danika and Greer such a captivating pair. Danika is impulsive where Greer is careful, emotional where he’s guarded, and takes risks when he overanalyzes. She injects gray into his world of black and white while drawing out his dominating, possessive instincts. In short, Danika and Greer KILLED me. They wreaked havoc with my emotions, had my pulse pounding in anticipation, and had me smiling, swooning, and/or blushing nonstop. Did I mention Greer is dirty-talker with dominant tendencies in the bedroom? The man gives Matt (Staking His Claim, anyone?) a run for his money, which is saying something.

With a storyline that had me riveted from start to finish, characters that’ll tug on your heartstrings and make you fall head over heels in love with them, and love scenes that are off-the-charts steamy, Disturbing His Peace is a must-read. This book... It’s AMAZING. I just want to gush about how sweet and sexy and swoon-worthy it is. Because it is. Disturbing His Peace is heart-meltingly sweet, jaw-droppingly sexy, and oh-so-swoon-worthy. As much as I'm reluctant to say goodbye to The Academy Series, I think Disturbing His Peace is the perfect send-off.
