Starting over was her only option.
Forty-years old and still reeling from a public and painful divorce, Thalia Blackwood is looking for a fresh start, somewhere far away from her upside down life. When she’s offered a new job as the sports therapist for a football (soccer) team, she jumps at the chance. This is just what she needs to leave the heartbreak and shame of Manchester behind, trading it in for the warmth and hopeful vibrancy of Madrid.
He was her only desire.
Twenty-three year old Alejo Albarado is rising up the ranks in his career. As the charming forward for the Real Madrid team, Alejo’s life revolves around women, parties, and being a tabloid darling, that is until the new sports therapist joins the team.
Their passion could not be ignored.
What starts out as a strictly professional relationship between Thalia and the young Spanish player, slowly evolves into something more. Much more.
Their relationship was forbidden.
But their combustible chemistry and simmering sexual tension can only go so far—should Thalia give into Alejo’s advances, she’s at risk of not only losing her job, but succumbing to a much younger man will drag her through the spotlight again.
Alejo might be worth that risk.
Unless he breaks her heart in the process.

**I love to read when I have a chance. I love making new friends, too. But PLEASE don't add me if you're an author just wanting me to read your book and promote yourself shamelessly. You should have more of a reason for friending me than THAT. Also, please don't recommend me books, I have enough on my TBR and not enough time to read. And I'm a super picky reader. Cheers!**
The daughter of a Norwegian Viking and a Finnish Moomin, Karina Halle grew up in Vancouver, Canada with trolls and eternal darkness on the brain. This soon turned into a love of all things that go bump in the night and a rather sadistic appreciation for freaking people out. Like many of the flawed characters she writes, Karina never knew where to find herself and has dabbled in acting, make-up artistry, film production, screenwriting, photography, travel writing and music journalism. She eventually found herself in the pages of the very novels she wrote (if only she had looked there to begin with).
Karina holds a screenwriting degree from Vancouver Film School and a Bachelor of Journalism from TRU. Her travel writing, music reviews/interviews and photography have appeared in publications such as Consequence of Sound, Mxdwn and GoNomad Travel Guides. She currently lives on an island on the coast of British Columbia where she's preparing for the zombie apocalypse.
When I'm not writing, I'm reading. And when I'm not reading I might be writing up a review. I'm wary of books with a lot of hype but unless something has bad reviews across the board, I'll probably still take a chance on it and give my honest opinion. Everyone is different and I won't pass up an adventure just because someone else didn't like it. And that's what I think when I look at my bookshelf...what adventure can I go on today?

There's something about an age gap romance that's both incredibly alluring and shockingly illicit. An older woman/younger man romance is even more taboo because it's not a trope that's used a lot in romance novels. When I learned that Karina Halle was coming out with The Younger Man, I was immediately intrigued. Even if I was initially apprehensive about the forbidden aspect (I'm a wimp when it comes to angst), I knew this author would deliver a brilliant story.
After a messy divorce, fourty-year-old, Thalia Blackwood, is starting over with a new job in a new country. As the new sports therapist for the football club, Real Madrid, Thalia works closely with the athletes on a daily basis. She never expected to feel an instant and powerful connection to twenty-three-year-old soccer star, Alejo Albarado, especially after her split with her ex-husband led to her quitting her job with the team they both worked for. Alejo's position on the team makes theirs a forbidden attraction, yet a serious injury requiring extensive therapy finds them working together in close quarters. Their age difference and the fact that a potential relationship between them isn't allowed makes for an impossible situation, yet the growing sexual tension between them is increasingly difficult to ignore.
Forbidden kisses, glances filled with longing, and pent-up, unquenchable need make for a steamy, lust-filled love romance. The relationship between Thalia and Alejo is unapologetically carnal, unabashedly sensual, and downright dirty. The characters are passionate and flawed and undeniably compelling. And the narrative is packed with enough angst and drama to keep you on the proverbial edge of your seat. This is a potent combination that had me riveted from the very first chapter.
If you're in the mood for a gut-wrenchingly emotional, hopelessly romantic, swoon-worthy love story, The Younger Man is another must-read from Karina Halle.
