Egomaniac by Vi Keeland: Review Blitz

The night I met Drew Jagger, he’d just broken into my new Park Avenue office.
I dialed 9-1-1 before proceeding to attack him with my fancy new Krav Maga skills.
He quickly restrained me, then chuckled, finding my attempted assault amusing.

Of course, my intruder had to be arrogant.
Only, turned out, he wasn’t an intruder at all.

Drew was the rightful occupant of my new office. He’d been on vacation while his posh space was renovated.
Which was how a scammer got away with leasing me office space that wasn’t really available for rent.
I was swindled out of ten grand.

The next day, after hours at the police station, Drew took pity on me and made me an offer I couldn’t refuse. In exchange for answering his phones while his secretary was out, he’d let me stay until I found a new place.
I probably should have acted grateful and kept my mouth shut when I overheard the advice he was spewing to his clients. But I couldn’t help giving him a piece of my mind.
I never expected my body to react every time we argued. Especially when that was all we seemed to be able to do.

The two of us were complete opposites. Drew was a bitter, angry, gorgeous-as-all-hell, destroyer of relationships. And my job was to help people save their marriages.
The only thing the two of us had in common was the space we were sharing.
And an attraction that was getting harder to deny by the day.

Review by Michelle:

I'M IN LOVE! I'm in love with Drew Jagger. I'm in love with Egomaniac. And I just may be a little bit in love with Vi Keeland (in a totally normal and healthy way that is). I don't know how Vi Keeland does it, but she continues to create masterpiece after masterpiece again and again and again, each one incredibly fun, totally swoony, and utterly addicting, and each just a little better than the last. Amazingly endearing characters, banter that will plaster a silly grin on your face the whole way through, one of the zaniest, craziest, funniest first encounters ever, and a healthy dose of sexual tension all culminate in a top read of 2017 by Vi Keeland within the first few weeks of the year for the second year in a row.

Vi Keeland always has a way of sucking you into her stories with the most outlandish situations that only seem to get more and more absurdly enjoyable with each page. Between the comical first meeting, loveably cocky heroes, fiery leading ladies, and absorbing plotlines, this is one author that never disappoints. A Vi Keeland story is always smart, witty, super sexy, romantic, and amusing and Egomaniac is a shining example of all this and more.

Between the way in which the story is told and some of the best banter I've read in a very long time, you will be hooked, consumed, and obsessed with this story. And hooked I was. If you can find a good spot to put this book down, I would have loved to have known about it before I began reading as I couldn't make myself stop for just about anything; kids, food, bathroom breaks, and least of all sleep. The way in which we are fed tidbits of Drew's past expertly keeps you enthralled in Drew and Emerie's story while chomping at the bit to know more about what makes Drew the man we see today. The banter keeps you uncontrollably flipping pages with an insatiable need for more of the bickering, the sarcasm, and the witty comebacks. I could not keep the smile off my face and couldn't help but burst out laughing, even at the most inopportune of times.

The characters are some of my very favorites. Emerie is the cutest little firecracker. A tad quirky, just sassy enough to be confident without being off-putting, and just shy enough to be a bit clumsy, a but unsure of herself at times, and a whole lot of funny. Drew is adorably cocky, unbelievably sexy, and about as straight forward and down to earth as it gets. He may be a bit jaded and a lot bitter, and rightly so, but once you break through his hard exterior, he is soft and sweet, kind, thoughtful, and generous.

As always there is so much more to this story than meets the eye. Is Drew charmingly full of himself? You know it. Is the story entertaining and hilarious? Without a doubt. Will this story make you so hot and bothered you are sure to break out in a sweat in below freezing temperatures? I can almost guarantee it. At the same time it is also incredibly sweet and heartfelt, touching and meaningful.

When you read as many books as I do, things can quickly become stagnant and redundant. Egomaniac is a breath of fresh air. I devoured this book. From the moment I opened Egomaniac I could not stop reading and I was dreading each subsequent page as I never wanted it to end. Egomaniac is in a class of its own. The best of just about anything you could hope for in a great, engaging, romantic read and another open and shut case when it comes to Vi Keeland's talent and artistry.
