The Farthest Edge (Honey #2) by Kristen Ashley: Blog Tour Review, Excerpt & Giveaway

Blurb:

Step into the Honey Club, where every sensual boundary will be tested in search of the ultimate pleasure…

Branch doesn’t exist. Living off the grid, he’s looking for a way to forget his past and the guilt that plagues him. But no woman has ever been able to bring him to the edge he craves.

After a traumatic experience of her own, Evangeline stepped away from the decadent world of the Honey Club. But when she gets Branch’s offer—to play without boundaries or commitments—it’s too tempting for her to refuse.

As their passion ignites, Evangeline and Branch push each other to their farthest limit, fulfilling their darkest desires while falling harder and deeper than they ever imagined.

Review by Yvette:

Hot. Sexy. Steamy. Sensual. Erotic. It *might* be time to consult a thesaurus because none of these words seem adequate enough to describe Kristen Ashley's latest release, The Farthest Edge. The author's boundary-pushing, deliciously illicit BDSM-themed series, Honey, returns with Branch's story and boy, is it HOT. I thought The Deepest End was Kristen Ashley's most sexually explicit, most downright illicit book… And then I read The Farthest Edge. But of course, there’s more to this book than off-the-charts chemistry between protagonists, Branch and Evangeline. Kristen Ashley once again proves herself particularly adept at tugging on my heartstrings with this beautifully written love story about healing, letting go of the past, and moving forward. There’s heat, heart, and just enough suspense to keep your pulse pounding from start to finish.

A Domme who wears her heart on her sleeve and a submissive who’s as mysterious as he is emotionally detached. Sounds like the makings of an intriguing story! Spoiler alert (not really): it is. I’ve been eager to become better acquainted with both Branch Dillinger and Evangeline Brooks since their respective introductions in The Deepest End. Despite her recent traumatic experience, Evangeline is a warm, caring woman who effortlessly exudes confidence and authority, both in her everyday life and in her role as one of the most sought-after Dommes at the Honey. Evangeline is in the process of healing and she recognizes something similar in Branch, who buries his past and feelings under a barrage of physical pain. Once Evangeline sets her sights on the headstrong, fiercely protective Alpha submissive, the two engage in a game of cat-and-mouse with extremely high stakes.

Like with Ollie and Amelie in The Deepest End, it’s a baser, sexual connection that’s first established between Evangeline and Branch. Evangeline is determined to bring branch to heel, but she’s equally focused on winning his heart. While the emotional connection comes fast and furious on Evangeline's end, Branch is more skittish, painfully and heartbreakingly so. For Evangeline, it's about reclaiming her identity, but for Branch, it's about learning to trust and letting his guard down. I often found myself holding my breath, exhaling only when Evangeline would conquer whatever new obstacle he presented her with on her quest for his submission. With The Farthest Edge, Kristen Ashley coaxes the emotions out of these characters, gradually lowering their mental defenses and opening their hearts even as their bodies are lost to pure and unadulterated eroticism.

With a combination of a swoon-worthy romance, scorching hot love scenes, and characters that are flawed yet lovable, The Farthest Edge is an unforgettable follow-up to The Deepest End. If you're in the mood for a book that'll make you blush (pretty much the entire time), that'll engage your heart, and that'll keep you riveted, The Farthest Edge is a must-read.

About Kristen Ashley:

Kristen Ashley was born in Gary, Indiana, USA. She nearly killed her mother and herself making it into the world, seeing as she had the umbilical cord wrapped around her neck (already attempting to accessorise and she hadn't taken her first breath!).

Kristen grew up in Brownsburg, Indiana but has lived in Denver, Colorado and the West Country of England. Thus she has been blessed to have friends and family around the globe. Her posse is loopy (to say the least) but loopy is good when you want to write.

Kristen was raised in a house with a large and multi-generational family. They lived on a very small farm in a small town in the heartland and existed amongst the strains of Glenn Miller, The Everly Brothers, REO Speedwagon and Whitesnake (and the wardrobes that matched).

Needless to say, growing up in a house full of music, clothes and love was a good way to grow up.

And as she keeps growing up, it keeps getting better.

Excerpt:

Putting a hand in and touching the fabric, Branch noted she had a fondness for silk and all of them were either dark purple, deep blue or black.

He also noted in an intense way that almost made him feel something, not only in his dick and balls, but somewhere else, that she had her shit tight.

She knew who she was. She knew what she liked. And what she liked wasn’t common or vulgar, as many people might see it (but he didn’t, he still couldn’t deny he like the way she obviously played it).

There was an elegance to her style.

It wasn’t about ball gags and he didn’t find a single strap on.

She got the life.

But she did it her way.

Yeah, that definitely almost made him feel something.

Almost.

The next drawer down, he found more harnesses, these for smaller uses, balls, cock, jaw.

There were also two carved boxes he pulled out and opened, their original use was for rings or jewelry but she’d put four cock rings in the purple velvet in one and a number of gleaming nipple clamps with and without chains tangled against the blue silk lining in the other.

He put the boxes back, closed the drawer, straightened and took one last look around.

It was a well-equipped playroom. She could get creative and be clean and safe doing it.

He cast his eyes down to the top of the dresser, lifted his hand and swiped it along the top, shining his flashlight on his fingers when he was done.

Dust.

She hadn’t been in there in months.

He drew breath in through his nose, switched off the light and turned his attention across the studio toward the wall beyond which was her house.

Aryas had made him an offer.

He needed to make a decision.
